Ingredients

1 ¾ cups flour

¾ cup cocoa powder

1 ½ tsp baking powder

1 ½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 eggs

1 cup milk

½ cup oil

2 tsp vanilla

1 cup boiling water


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Mix dry ingredients
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, vanilla
  4. Stir in boiling water
  5. Pour into pans and bake 30–35 minutes
  6. Cool, frost, and enjoy

Notes

For a deeper chocolate flavor, replace ¼ cup water with strong brewed coffee.

To make ahead, bake cake layers and freeze for up to 3 months—wrap tightly in plastic and foil.
